What Does 'Rebrand Yourself' Mean?
In simple terms, branding is a term used to describe a person or entity's distinctive essence. It speaks to how they show up across all their platforms. This can be on social media, product launches, or even a blog (hint hint).
Truthfully I've spent hours pouring over my own brand identity and how to make sure it's consistent across everything I do on and offline.
Because when I close my computer, I still represent my brand.
Even though my business and my personal brand are technically two separate entities, I decided to keep them consistent across the board. However, that's a personal preference and I can't speak for other business owners who have personal brands and business brands.
Is there a difference between rebranding yourself and rebranding your business?
In my opinion, not much. Branding is the process of cultivating a unique set of features so that people begin to associate YOU with your products, services, persona, or concept.
For example, if you want people to see you as a classy and successful individual, you may look at your career, appearance, social media topics posts, etc. Considering this will lead to how you might go about reinventing yourself as a brand.
Both a business and a personal brand will have a mission that spreads across everything they do.
A mission can be as simple as 'showing others how to live their best life' to something as white-collar as 'helping women start profitable online businesses.'
A business brand will go a step further and adopt unique colors, fonts, product labels, language, logos, and more to craft a consumer experience that people will automatically associate with them over time. This is important because it creates trust and allows them to become a preferred source to get what they need above competitors.
Now let's look at how you can easily rebrand yourself in 2024.

1. Reflect and Brainstorm: Reinventing Yourself
Rebranding isn’t just about slapping a new logo on your website or changing your LinkedIn headline. It’s a journey of self-discovery, a chance to peel back the layers and reveal the authentic YOU to the world.
I spent some time on this portion of my rebranding because I wanted to make sure I wasn’t crafting a new persona, but capturing the best version of myself to share with my audience.
Take a moment to answer the following questions.
What defines you? Your values, your strengths, your journey.
It’s also important to take the time to clarify your passions and goals, and then seek advice or feedback from those around you. A second pair of eyes is always helpful and it may surprise you just how much you already show up as your authentic and desired self.
And perhaps most importantly, it’s about being willing to evolve and grow as you embark on this rebranding journey. Self-reflection isn’t a one-and-done deal – it’s an ongoing practice, a commitment to staying true to yourself even as the world around you changes.
2. Planning & Execution: Define Your Brand Identity
Now that you know yourself inside out, it’s time to define your brand identity. What makes you unique? What value do you bring to the table? Craft a clear and compelling message that communicates your essence to the world.
Consider the journey you’re about to bring others on.
Remember, it’s not just about choosing colors or fonts – it’s about distilling the essence of who you are into a clear and compelling message.
It’s about crafting a narrative that resonates with your audience, that speaks to their needs and desires, that makes them sit up and take notice.
Think of it like taking a huge concept and shoving it through the narrow view of a few targeted areas.
Consider things like appearance, routines, hobbies, types of collaborations, and social media content for personal brands OR logos, brand colors, copywriting, product labels, and content for businesses. Then wrap these things into a story that opens the eyes of your audience to who you are.
Then, create a clear schedule and pace surrounding how you plan to transition your brand.
3. Communicate and Reinforce Your Brand
With your brand identity crystal clear, it’s time to shout it from the rooftops (or at least from your social media profiles).
Share your story, your expertise, and your passions. Engage with your audience, build connections, and let your brand shine bright in every interaction.
Consistency is key as you communicate and reinforce your brand message across all channels.
In conclusion, rebranding yourself or your business can be as easy as 1, 2, 3.
First, reflect on who you are, where you're going, and what you stand for. Then, hone in on your brand identity through intentional messaging that relays your journey to your audience. And lastly, start promoting yourself publicly!
It can take time to master the perfect brand strategy. It takes consistency and time to instill in your audience who you are. However by applying these 3 steps you're that much closer to proving yourself an expert in branding.
